Dermaplaning Austin / Riverplace

Dermaplaning uses an ultra-sharp surgical blade to gently scrape the outer layers of dead, dull skin cells. It also effectively removes the very fine (peach fuzz) hair that is commonly found on the face. This treatment is great for those people who want the advantages commonly seen with professional exfoliation, but have skin that is too sensitive for the suction associated with traditional microdermabrasion.

  • Immediate improvement in skin texture, fine lines and wrinkles
  • Removes dull skin and “peach fuzz” facial hair
  • Increases the absorption of topical products
  • Creates a healthier more radiant appearance

Frequently Asked Questions about Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning

How does dermaplaning work?

Your skin is pulled taut while a sterile surgical blade is very gently scraped across the surface.  This blade removes dead skin, and vellus hair (peach fuzz) on the face.  This leaves the skin ultra smooth and bright.

Will the hair on my face grow back darker or thicker?

No!  It is impossible to change the structure of your hair follicle by manipulating the hair only on the skin's surface.  Your hair will gradually grow back exactly how it was before the treatment.

Am I a candidate for the treatment?

Dr. Rosenberger's licensed medical aesthetician will analyze your skin prior to treatment and determine if you are a candidate.  If you have found in the past that your skin is too sensitive for microdermabrasion, dermaplaning may work best for you.

Can dermaplaning be combined with chemical peels or IPL treatments?

Yes, but this should be discussed with your aesthetician first.

How often can this treatment be done?

Dermaplaning can be performed every 4 to 6 weeks.

Is there any downtime and is it safe for pregnant or lactating women?

There is no downtime after this treatment.  Typically we ask you avoid exfoliating products for 5 days prior to treatment and 5 days after treatment.

Yes, this treatment is safe for pregnant and lactating women.
